Ahead of its penultimate Bay State Herget division game with Walpole, Natick football head coach Mark Mortarelli was named the New England Patriots Coach of the Week today.

Here's more from the press release:

Natick High School’s Mark Mortarelli has been named this week’s New England Patriots High School Coach of the Week in recognition of his team’s 42-19 victory over Milton High School on Friday, Oct. 18, at Milton’s Memorial Field. Nursing a 21-19 lead midway through the third quarter, the Redhawks scored 21 unanswered points to seal the win and clinch a berth in the Division 2 South playoffs. The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will donate $1,000 to Natick High School’s program in Mortarelli’s name in recognition of his Coach of the Week selection.

Patriots and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Andre Tippett, the team’s executive director of community affairs, visited Coach Mortarelli’s team on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Natick High School. The visit and check presentation will be featured on the Patriots weekly television magazine show, “Patriots All Access,” which airs at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, on WBZ-TV in Boston and will be available immediately after on Patriots.com.

This is the 18th year in which the Patriots join the National Football League in conducting the High School Coach of the Week program, which recognizes outstanding high school coaches and promotes youth football throughout New England. Tippett oversees the program as part of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation’s commitment to youth football initiatives.

“Congratulations to Coach Mark Mortarelli and his team,” Tippett said. “Natick High School made some big stops on defense, and the offense did the rest by scoring 21 straight points in the second half to clinch a playoff berth. This was a great win for the Redhawks.”

At the conclusion of the season, one high school coach will be named the New England Patriots High School Coach of the Year and will receive an additional $2,000 contribution toward the school’s football program.
