Andover's Miller done for the season

In what has to be a crucial blow to the Andover football program, Boston College-bound tight end Brian Miller confirmed tonight that he has a broken tibia and partially detached medial collateral ligament.

Miller, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the state and an integral component of the 7-3 Golden Warriors' success this season, suffered the injury on a helmet to the knee -- snapping the top of his tibia off -- in the first half of Andover's 88-82, eight-overtime win over Merrimack Valley Conference foe Lowell. He said he visited the doctors today, and they estimated he would make a full recovery in three months.

Miller said he will undergo surgery next week.

The injury comes at a rather inconvenient time in the season, as the Warriors face Central Catholic on Thanksgiving for the MVC Large title and a Division 1 playoff berth. Miller has six touchdowns this season.
