We updated our statewide MIAA Top 25 basketball poll this morning, ahead of this afternoon and evening's slate of games. To view it, CLICK HERE.
The next poll updated will be on Monday, Dec. 30.
A few notes and observations about this week's poll:
North Quincy makes return: After making a surprise run to the Divsion 1 South Final last March, North Quincy came into this season sitting in our "Last 10 out", but it was only a matter of time before they made their triumphant return to the Top 25. They come in this week at No. 22 having manhandled Brockton and Middleborough, led by 6-foot-8 senior center Anthony Green. Keep an eye on the Red Raiders, who could see a big jump in the next few weeks if all goes well.
Also making its debut this week is Lynn Classical, which comes in at No. 25.
Putnam remains on top: Springfield Putnam maintains the No. 1 spot in our poll, a position they've held since the final poll of the 2012-13 season. The Beavers routed East Longmeadow in their season opener, 80-41, then rallied past Brooklyn, N.Y. power Nazareth Regional in overtime on the second night of the BasketBull Hoops Fest.
