O'Leary stepping down at St. John's Prep football

In an email to the Boston area media this morning, St. John's Prep announced that Jim O'Leary is stepping down as head coach of the school's football team, after 30 years at the helm, with a new head coach to be announced tomorrow morning in a press conference.

O'Leary took over as head coach of the Eagles and amassed a 207-110-2 record in 30 seasons, including MIAA Super Bowl titles in 1997 and 2012. His 1997 team -- quarterbacked by former Boston College and NFL vet Brian St. Pierre, who joined O'Leary's staff this past season -- finished No. 24 in USA Today's "Super 25" national poll.

O'Leary is expected to remain at the school as its athletic director.
