Malden Catholic hockey will forfeit its 5-1 victory over Weymouth because of an ineligible player who skated in the game.
According to a report by Jim Clark of the Boston Herald, Lancers head coach and athletic director Chris Serino used a player in the New Year's Day game who had not yet been declared eligible by the school's standard. Although the player was deemed eligible under MIAA guidelines, Serino believed the player had also been cleared to play by the school.
The game will stand as a 1-0 victory for the No. 9 Wildcats and the records of both Weymouth and the No. 1 Lancers will stand at 5-1-0.
