Watertown's Coppola commits to WPI

After months of courtship and heavy leaning, Watertown High senior guard Marco Coppola has finally issued a verbal commitment to Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Raiders head coach Steve Harrington confirmed to ESPNBoston.com this afternoon.

The 6-foot-1 Coppola, considered one of the state's deadliest long-range shooters, led Eastern Mass in scoring (25.1) this season as the Raiders advanced their third MIAA Division 3 state championship in six years, falling to Whitinsville Christian. Coppola was also a member of the Raiders' 2009 state championship squad.

Coppola was also named to ESPNBoston's inaugural MIAA All-State Team last month, as well as its "All-Shooters" team. He leaves Watertown as the fourth-leading scorer in school history.
