ESPN RISE's Chris Ackels recaps the US Youth Soccer girls regional tournaments today, and among the highlights are the Braintree-based Scorpions Elite, featuring incoming juniors Andrea O'Brien of Concord-Carlisle and Bridget Conway of Norwell.
The Scorpions took the U16 championship in Region I, behind strong performances from the two, as Ackels writes:
Scorpions Elite continued their dominance of this age group, becoming the only Region I team (boys or girls) to earn a repeat regional championship. Goalkeeper Bridget Conway had an impressive tournament and was aided by age group leading scorer Andrea O’Brien.
Meanwhile, O'Brien continues to make her mark on the national stage, after a banner year for the Patriots in which she took home Dual County League MVP, All-State and All-New England honors. Ackel writes:
Andrea O’Brien – A hat trick in the regional semifinals for U16 Scorpions Elite solidified O’Brien’s spot as the top scorer in the tournament for her age group.
