After the first week of play, we're revisiting our Massachusetts boys and girls soccer Top 20 polls. Both polls saw some movement with teams ascending and moving back in the pack.
Here's a quick breakdown of how things shook out in this week's edition:
MOVERS AND SHAKERS
The biggest movers in the respective polls were Sandwich, which moved from No. 11 to No. 8, on the boys side and Needham, which catapulted from No. 20 to No. 16, on the girls side.
WELCOME TO THE CLUB
While no team was dropped from the girls poll, there were three newbies to the boys poll. No. 17 Wellesley makes its debut after a 4-1 upset win over Framingham. Medfield rings in at No. 18 and Walpole sneaks in at No. 20 after going 2-0 in Bay State Conference play.
That also meant there were three teams that moved out of the boys poll: Danvers (previous ranking: No. 17), Hopkinton (18) and Duxbury (20).
Ludlow climbed to the top in the boys poll after going 2-0-1 in its first week of play. Meanwhile, Algonquin remained steady in the lead spot of the girls poll.
