Governor's Scarfo commits to Union

Governor's Academy hockey forward Ryan Scarfo has committed to Union College, Governor's head coach Leon Hayward confirmed.

The 5-foot-11, 176-pound center is a three-sport captain at Governor's and is incoming senior class president. The Chelmsford native will join the Dutchmen for the 2014-15 season.

"He's a great leader and the fact that he's captain of three teams confirms that," Hayward said. "But more than that, he's also a tireless worker, which will help him at the next level."

Scarfo also garnered interest from Holy Cross and Yale and was also considering an offer to play baseball at Dartmouth.

"I'm really proud of his decision," Hayward said. "He made a decision based on the school that he felt fit him best, considering campuses and majors and what felt right to him. I think he settled in a great situation at Union."
