Pats' Wright fined $5,000 for hit on Flacco

Patriots defensive lineman Mike Wright has been fined $5,000 for making contact with the helmet of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco last Sunday.

Wright confirmed the fine to reporters in the locker room Thursday.

"I'm going to appeal it," Wright said, in comments posted by Christopher L. Gasper of the Boston Globe. "I watched it again yesterday. I really just went to grab his shoulder, slipped off his shoulder and just barely touched his facemask. That's not roughing the passer in my eyes. I wasn't trying to bring him down by his facemask or anything like that. It just slipped off and hit him."

Ravens defensive lineman Haloti Ngata was also fined $5,000 for making contact with Tom Brady's helmet, while linebacker Terrell Suggs was not fined for his roughing-the-passer penalty against Brady.
