Welker, Meriweather get stars

LONDON -- After further review, a look at three stars from the Patriots' 35-7 win over the Buccaneers:

No. 1 star: Wes Welker -- Receiver finishes with 10 catches for 107 yards and a 14-yard touchdown reception on the screen he so effectively runs. Also delivers a 24-yard punt return.

No. 2 star: Brandon Meriweather -- Emerging as the leader of a revamped secondary, safety intercepts two passes in the first quarter, returning the first 39 yards for a score.

No. 3 star: Tully Banta-Cain -- He has emerged as the team's best edge rusher, consistently bringing heat off the edge while finishing with five tackles (2 for a loss)

And a look at three players on the opposite end of the spectrum:

Logan Mankins -- Three false start penalties and a holding infraction for the starting left guard, which reflect the overall struggles that the line had.

Sebastian Vollmer -- Rookie left tackle has two holding penalties on the opening drive of the second half, and is part of a line that struggled to consistently protect Tom Brady.

Stephen Neal/Dan Koppen -- Neal is penalized for being an illegal man downfield and Koppen picks up a false start infraction as the line totals eight of the team's 10 penalties on the day. If tight end Chris Baker's illegal shift penalty is included, the number increases to nine.
