FOXBOROUGH -- Barring an unexpected change, the Patriots have told defensive back Kyle Arrington that he will be moved from the practice squad to the active roster.
Arrington would fill the spot created Friday when veteran Kendall Simmons was released.
Arrington (5-10, 196) is a first-year player out of Hofstra. He was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during training camp and played in one game for them this season before joining the New England practice squad.
The Patriots are deep in the defensive backfield, although cornerback Jonathan Wilhite has been out of practice all week with an illness.
