Ten absent from Wednesday's practice

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Ten players were absent as the Patriots returned to practice Wednesday inside the Dana Farber Fieldhouse outside Gillette Stadium.

Wide receivers Julian Edelman and Randy Moss, running back Fred Taylor, safety Pat Chung, linebackers Rob Ninkovich and Pierre Woods, defensive linemen Vince Wilfork and Ron Brace, and offensive linemen Sebastian Vollmer and Nick Kaczur were all among the missing during the portion of practice open to the media, which included stretching and position drills.

Four practice-squad players -- linebacker Thomas Williams, tight end Rob Myers, offensive lineman Ryan Wendell and defensive lineman Darryl Richard -- and quarterback Brian Hoyer wore black shirts, indicating they were practice players of the week leading up to the team's win over the Jets.

Earlier, inside the locker room, cornerback Kyle Arrington had Pepper Johnson's "Dirty Show" belt hanging above his locker, signifying him as the scout team player of the week.
