FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- After opening the season on the Patriots' 53-man roster for the first two games, center/guard Ryan Wendell was waived and landed on the practice squad. Since that time, he had at least one opportunity to sign to another team's roster but declined to stay in New England.
Wendell had explained that he was taking a long-range view of his career, and he felt staying in New England under line coach Dante Scarnecchia gave him the best chance at improving.
Wendell's patience was rewarded Thursday when he was promoted to the 53-man active roster. Defensive lineman Titus Adams was waived to make room for Wendell.
If Adams clears waivers, he would be a top candidate to return to the team.
