ORLANDO, Fla. -- Patriots coach Bill Belichick met with media members this morning at the AFC coaches breakfast, and if there was one aspect that stood out from the hour-long chat, it was Belichick’s praise in speaking on Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.
“Great career, great player,” Belichick said. “I think it’s obvious that within the last six weeks, that he’s worked on his mechanics and they’ve improved, which is a credit to him. He’s very coachable and he works very hard. I’m sure that whatever he feels he needs to do, he’ll work very hard at, whatever that is. Athletically, he tested very well at the combine, which you can see on the field.”
Asked if Tebow might be able to play another position, Belichick said: “My sense of Tim Tebow is that if you asked him to play nose, he’d play nose. I think he’s that kind of kid. Whatever you ask him to do, I think he’d do.”
Left unsaid was whether the Patriots would pull the trigger if Tebow was available with one of their early picks.
It helps the Patriots if other clubs think that is a possibility, creating more value in a possible trade.
