Quarterback Tom Brady is hosting a flag football game tonight at Harvard Stadium as part of his duties as the event chair of this weekend's Audi Best Buddies Challenge. Several of Brady's teammates are expected to be in attendance, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
In his appearance on sports radio WEEI on May 12, Brady talked about his connection to Best Buddies.
“It’s really finding friendships, jobs and career opportunities for people with mental disabilities,” Brady explained, noting that he first became involved in 2001 when approached by Best Buddies founder Anthony Shriver. “It’s a great thing for the community, the state of Massachusetts, and it’s run by people who really enjoy what they’re doing and are making a huge difference. I love seeing the kids out there, too. It’s a great cause.”
As for the new twist to the weekend -- tonight's flag football game -- Brady joked: "It's the only way I could ever get into Harvard, for a football game."
The plan is to be in attendance and pass along sights and sounds tonight on Twitter.
