QUICK HITS: As one would expect for a second preseason game, this was a vanilla type of effort. The Patriots stayed in their base 3-4 alignment and when it was time to sub, they called on a dime package. Nothing exotic. … The low playing time for veteran safety James Sanders, as compared to Sergio Brown, was interesting to note. It could be a case of the coaching staff wanting to evaluate Brown – a rookie free agent out of Notre Dame – while already knowing what they have in Sanders. Or it could be an ominous sign for Sanders. … At inside linebacker, it was notable that Eric Alexander entered the game before Tyrone McKenzie and led the huddle instead of McKenzie. In the preseason opener, rookie free agent Dane Fletcher entered before McKenzie.
