Analysis from Pats' inactive players

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Quick-hit thoughts from the Patriots' inactive players:

Edelman ready for his first action. Receiver Julian Edelman, who was a game-time decision last week, is dressed and on the 45-man game-day roster. Edelman took his regular warmups and before he headed to the locker room, he jumped and dunked the football over the crossbar.

Wendell sticks as top backup guard. With offensive lineman Quinn Ojinnaka coming off the suspended list this week, there was a question as to whether he would become the top backup at guard. But Ojinnaka is inactive, with second-year player Ryan Wendell the top backup at guard once again.

Six defensive linemen for a heavy look. For the second week in a row, the Patriots are dressing six defensive linemen. This could be a tip-off that the team plans to play some four-man line schemes, as they did last week in sub situations.

Woodhead won't have on-field impact. Any thought that the Patriots might use former Jets running back/receiver Danny Woodhead as a gadget weapon/special teamer was off the mark. Woodhead signed with the team on Saturday, so he hadn't practiced all week.
