Safety boost as Sanders practices

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Potentially thin at safety, the Patriots received good news on Wednesday when veteran James Sanders participated fully in the team's afternoon workout. Sanders missed Sunday's win over the Ravens with a hamstring injury.

With fellow safety Jarrad Page knocked out of last Sunday's win with a calf injury -- and with Page not practicing Wednesday -- Sanders' full participation was perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of the Patriots' injury report.

Cornerback Kyle Arrington (groin) and receiver Wes Welker (not injury related) were limited in practice, while receiver Julian Edelman (concussion) and running back Fred Taylor (toe) remained out.

For the Chargers, outside linebacker Larry English (foot), receiver Malcom Floyd (hamstring), tight end Antonio Gates (toe), kicker Nate Kaeding (groin), running back Ryan Mathews (ankle) and receiver Legedu Naanee (hamstring) all were held out of practice.
