FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Patriots today announced the signing of outside linebacker/defensive end Eric Moore to their 53-man roster and the release of outside linebacker Pierre Woods.
Woods was re-signed by the team on Nov. 17 after spending the last four seasons in New England. He played in three games for the Patriots, recording three tackles and one sack.
A sixth-year veteran, Moore worked out for the Patriots on Tuesday. He recently finished the United Football League season with the Florida Tuskers, making him subject to a “transfer fee” in order to be signed to the active roster of an NFL team. AOL Fanhouse reported yesterday that UFL reduced the fee from $150,000 to $25,000.
The transfer fee does not apply to players signed to NFL practice squads, but Moore was not practice squad eligible.
