Cornerback Terrence Wheatley, a 2008 Patriots second-round draft choice now with the Jaguars, was placed on season-ending injured reserve today (hamstring). It is the latest health-related setback for Wheatley, whose New England career was derailed by a string of injuries.
Wheatley seemed to be coming on in 2010 Patriots training camp when he sustained a foot injury. He still made the team coming out of camp, but was ultimately waived Nov. 6 when the team made room for the return of Logan Mankins.
Wheatley quickly hooked on with the Jaguars and appeared in one game.
In the offseason, Wheatley said he knew he had no more "free" years and that a big part of his success would come down to his health.
