A feel for the 92nd draft pick

Now that compensatory draft choices have been awarded by the NFL, the exact spots of each Patriots draft pick is known. Prior to Friday, only the spots in the first, second and third round were solidified.

1a. 17th overall

1b. 28th overall

2a. 33rd overall

2b. 60th overall

3a. 74th overall

3b. 92nd overall

4. 125th overall

5. 159th overall

6. 193rd overall

A look at some of the recent players picked in those spots have been highlighted. On Saturday, the 193 spot was in focus, and on Sunday it was the 159 spot, followed by 125.

Today, it's the 92nd spot (third round):

2010: OT Shawn Lauvao (Browns)

2009: CB Jerraud Powers (Colts)

2008: DE Cliff Avril (Lions)

2007: QB Trent Edwards (Bills)

2006: DE Jason Hatcher (Cowboys)

2005: DE Vincent Burns (Colts)

2004: CB Rich Gardner (Titans)

ANALYSIS: Of the group, Jerraud Powers and Cliff Avril stand out. Powers has started 22 games in his first two seasons for the Colts, proving to be a good system fit. Avril has 19 sacks in his first three seasons, adding to Purdue's strong reputation of producing defensive end/outside linebackers. Elsewhere, the Bills thought they had their quarterback of the future in Trent Edwards but a combination of factors -- including a shoddy offensive line -- contributed to him fizzling out in Buffalo.
