Mock thoughts: Jordan & Reed

Todd McShay of ESPN's Scouts Inc., produces his final seven-round mock draft (Insider content) and he envisions a scenario in which the Patriots come away with the following players:

No. 17 -- DE Cameron Jordan (California)

No. 28 -- OLB Brooks Reed (Arizona)

No. 33 -- OL James Carptenter (Alabama)

No. 60 -- DT Jarvis Jenkins (Clemson)

No. 74 -- RB Daniel Thomas (Kansas State)

No. 92 -- CB Curtis Brown (Texas)

No. 125 -- WR Cecil Shorts (Mount Union)

No. 159 -- S Eric Hagg (Nebraska)

No. 193 -- RB Charles Clay (Tulsa)

ANALYSIS: McShay doesn't project trades, although he acknowledges that the Patriots are likely to be moving some picks. He hits all the "need" spots for the Patriots. The big question from this perspective is whether Jordan is the right fit over players like Muhammad Wilkerson and Cameron Heyward, who are both available. Also, is Reed the best fit at outside linebacker, over someone like Jabaal Sheard?
