Bill Belichick has proven to be one of the best when it comes to motivating and preparing the 53 players on his football team. On Monday night, he showed he can get 17,565 going as well.
Belichick was present at the sold-out TD Banknorth Garden, where the Boston Bruins defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 3-1, in a riveting up-and-down playoff game that puts the Bruins one game from the Stanley Cup finals.
Belichick's presence was recognized by the 17,565 in attendance and, as ESPNBoston.com's Joe McDonald noted, the place roared when a smiling Belichick -- in a suit jacket and tie -- was shown on the videoboard in the third period waving a Bruins towel.
The reaction reflected how Belichick is revered by Boston/New England fans.
For his efforts, Belichick was named "Fan of the Game."
