First public practice to be held Thursday

The first public practice of 2011 Patriots training camp will be held on Thursday, July 28 at a time to be determined, the team announced on Monday.

Players will begin to report to Gillette Stadium on Tuesday for voluntary training, conditioning, and classroom instruction. Wednesday will be the mandatory reporting date for all players and will include physical examinations, conditioning tests, and other meetings.

Thursday will be the first of two days where teams will only be allowed to conduct non-contact practices. Full pads practices can begin as soon as Saturday, July 30.

The new collective bargaining agreement also stipulates that teams may hold no more than one padded practice per day throughout training camp. Teams may still conduct "two-a-days," but one practice must be at a 'walkthrough' pace without helmets.

A complete training camp practice schedule, with times, has yet to be released.
