Left tackle Matt Light's contract with the Patriots is a two-year package in which he can earn up to $12 million, the Associated Press reported tonight. The deal includes $7 million guaranteed, a source told the Associated Press.
The market for top left tackles was set by Dolphins' Jake Long when Long was the No. 1 overall selection in 2008. He was signed to a five-year, $57.5 million contract.
Between Light and Logan Mankins ($10.1 million), the Patriots will be paying big to protect Tom Brady's blindside in 2011.
