The contract signed by running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis with the Patriots on Wednesday was his restricted free agent. It's a one-year deal worth $1.83 million, according to documents filed with the NFL players association.
There was a question as to whether Green-Ellis signed some form of extension or simply his tender.
When asked about it Wednesday, Green-Ellis said, "I let the [agents] and everybody else handle the contracts. Of course, I’m keeping the contract situation out of the news."
This sets up Green-Ellis to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2011 season.
Also on the contract front, defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth is currently listed with a base salary of $5.4 million in 2011, while receiver Chad Ochocinco is listed with a base salary of $6 million. At this time, Ochocinco's contract expires after the 2011 season, but it's possible the extension the sides agreed to has yet to be filed and/or processed by the league.
