Belichick on Haynesworth's absence

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Tuesday that he thinks veteran defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth isn't far away from returning to practice. Haynesworth has missed the team's last three practices and hasn't taken the field for today's session.

"I'd put him in the 'day to day' category; he's getting some treatment," Belichick said. "I think he'll be back out there as soon as he can. I think he's working really hard. Hopefully he'll be back out there in a matter of hopefully a day or matter of days."

Asked if he cared to illuminate on the treatment that Haynesworth and defensive lineman Shaun Ellis (active/PUP) are undergoing, Belichick simply said they are day to day.

Overall, when assessing the team's recovering players who aren't on the physically unable to perform or non-football injury lists, Belichick said, "I don't think we have a lot of guys that we won't see until October or November or that kind of thing."
