FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- After Thursday's preseason opening win, coach Bill Belichick said, "We looked at a lot of people, a lot of young players, and that was kind of the idea – to get them in there and let them play – and we let them play against some better people there in the beginning of the game, so we’ll get a good evaluation of them."

EXTRA POINT: The primary nickel package, most often called upon on third down, had DE Mark Anderson, DL Landon Cohen, DL Steve Williams and CB Leigh Bodden coming on to the field to replace DE Eric Moore, DE Jermaine Cunningham, DT Kyle Love and DT Darryl Richard. With the extra defensive back, Bodden most often lined up in the slot.
