The Patriots announced that fifth-year veteran offensive tackle Mark LeVoir has been released.
LeVoir has been with the team since 2008, when he was claimed off waivers from the Rams, and was considered to be on the roster bubble this year. The solid performance of first-year offensive tackle Steve Maneri in the preseason opener could have played a factor in the team's decision-making process.
LeVoir and Maneri were competing for a spot behind Matt Light, Sebastian Vollmer and first-round pick Nate Solder at the position.
Levoir appared in 32 games with the Patriots, mostly on the field-goal protection unit. He started two games along the offensive line, both coming in the 2008 season.
