Patriots travel home after game

DETROIT -- The Patriots departed for home after their disappointing 34-10 loss to the Lions at Ford Field, looking to beat the effects of Hurricane Irene before it reached Massachusetts.

Initial plans were that the team would fly to Providence. But the team was scheduled to head to Boston's Logan Airport, barring a change in the air.

Just after 3 a.m., cornerback Kyle Arrington tweeted, "Thanks for all your prayers! Little bumpy, but I'll take it!"

Shortly after that, the team's official Twitter feed read, "Patriots arrive back at Gillette Stadium. Now it's time to batten down the hatches."

Cornerback Devin McCourty added, "Safe flight two thumbs up for the pilot."
