Podcast: Bledsoe, Myra, Chargers

This week's Patriots podcast on ESPNBoston.com, with Tedy Bruschi and Mike Reiss, is now posted on the site.

Bruschi offers thoughts on receiver Chad Ochocinco, center Dan Connolly taking over for Dan Koppen, linebacker Brandon Spikes' status with the team, and defensive lineman Mike Wright's history with concussions.

In addition, Bruschi shares memories of former Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe as Bledsoe will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame.

"I'm excited to see him," he says. "I remember going up against him when I was at the University of Arizona, and he was the quarterback at Washington State. Everybody was like 'This guy is going to be the No. 1 pick, let's hit him so hard that dollar bills fall out of him.' From there, to becoming a teammate here in New England, Drew was one of my favorite teammates of all-time. What he did in '01, to help us win that championship ... yes, that was Tom Brady's coming-out party, but we all remember the AFC Championship game when Brady went down and Bledsoe came in after a year of supporting Brady and threw that touchdown pass to David Patten. Awesome. That was one of my favorite moments of all-time."

Bruschi also talks about the Patriots' history in home openers (perfect at Gillette Stadium), and how this one could be special.

"This week, I think there is a little extra motivation because this is the first season opener without Mrs.Kraft in the stands," he says. "The Patriots are distributing 70,000 pins that have MHK, her initials. That emotion, I think, is going to be plenty for this team to have a successful season opener."
