With nine-year veteran center Dan Koppen set to miss the next two months of the season with a broken fibula, the Patriots on Friday worked out five interior offensive linemen.
Among the tryouts was a local product: former Harvard guard Brent Osborne, who signed as a rookie free agent with the Seahawks this summer.
Also worked out were three rookie free agents: former Oregon State and Chicago Bears center Alex Linnenkohl, former Central Michigan and Pittsburgh Steelers center Colin Miller, and former Utah and New York Jets center Zane Taylor.
Finally, the Patriots worked out center Reggie Stephens, who was a seventh-round draft choice of the Bengals in 2010. He was inactive for every game last season in Cincinnati before being released on Sept. 4.
