Vereen's practice work recognized

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Rookie running back Shane Vereen has yet to play an offensive snap this season, but coaches acknowledged his preparation by tabbing him as one of the team's "black jersey" winners.

Every week after a victory, coaches announce their practice players of the week and those players don black jerseys. Vereen joined cornerback Antwaun Molden, defensive lineman Kyle Love, practice squad offensive tackle Matt Kopa and practice squad cornerback Josh Victorian as this week's selections.

With running back Danny Woodhead not at practice Wednesday after injuring his left ankle in Sunday's win, Vereen could finally have his breakthrough this week.
