In a piece posted on ESPNNewYork.com, Rich Cimini writes on the Jets looking forward to facing Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine makes a link between Brady's recent struggles and the team's center position.
"I think losing the center has affected him," Pettine said, referring to Dan Koppen's season-ending ankle injury in Week 1. "I know they have some issues there, so it seems to me that he gets a little more anxious at times, where before you would see him sit in that pocket and not move and scan the field."
Pettine's point of view comes after the Patriots adopted an unusual rotation in Sunday's loss to the Giants, with backup center Ryan Wendell coming on for the fifth series in each half.
Belichick said earlier this week that the rotation was more a reflection of Wendell than Connolly, noting that coaches have confidence in both players. He called Wendell, who missed Wednesday and Thursday practices with a concussion, more than an "emergency type" player.
