Patriots wide receiver-turned-emergency corner Julian Edelman (11) makes a tackle Sunday.EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman did his best Troy Brown impersonation Sunday night, lining up for five plays at slot corner during the final minutes of the Patriots' 37-16 triumph over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
Edelman made the most of it, too. The Jets ran a draw play to running back LaDainian Tomlinson with two minutes to go and Edelman stepped up to make the tackle, leaving Tomlinson shaken up on the play.
Asked about Edelman's playing time, Belichick noted: "We're running out of guys there. [Edelman] stepped in and made a nice hit there and a made a nice tackle on [LaDainian] Tomlinson. You never know. It's a long season. We have a lot of games left. Who knows who will be playing where, but I know one thing: These guys are tough, mentally and physically. They'll stand up to the challenge and give their best. That counts for a lot. The game's not too big for them."
