Patriots ties with the Chiefs

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- With the Patriots shifting their preparations for Monday's game against the Chiefs into a higher gear, a look at those with Patriots ties in the Chiefs' organization:

Maurice Carthon -- Chiefs assistant head coach was a Patriots offensive assistant (1994-95) and running backs coach (1996).

Matt Cassel -- Injured quarterback was a seventh-round draft choice of Patriots in 2005 and played with the team from 2005-2008.

Joel Collier -- Chiefs assistant general manager was a Patriots secondary coach (2005-07), pro scout (1993), and assistant running backs/wide receivers coach (1991-92).

Romeo Crennel -- Chiefs defensive coordinator held the same position in New England from 2001-2004; was also defensive line coach for Patriots from 1993-1996.

Steve Maneri -- Offensive tackle was claimed on waivers from the Patriots this season. He's been active for one game this season.

Bill Muir -- Chiefs offensive coordinator/offensive line coach was the offensive line coach for the Patriots from 1982-84.

Jay Muraco -- Chiefs area scout is the former Patriots' college scouting coordinator (2000-2008).

Jim Nagy -- Chiefs regional scout spent is a former area scout for the Patriots (2002-2008).

Ryan O'Callaghan -- Offensive tackle was a fifth-round draft choice of Patriots in 2006 and played in 25 games (6 starts) from 2007-2008. Is currently on season-ending injured reserve.

Anthony Pleasant -- Defensive line coach played for Patriots from 2001-2003.

Scott Pioli -- General manager served as Patriots VP of Player Personnel from 2000-2008.

Otis Smith -- Defensive quality control coach played cornerback for Patriots in 1996 and from 2000-2002. Smith also had a minority coaching fellowship with the Patriots.
