FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Another day, another Ross Ventrone transaction.
The Patriots promoted Ventrone from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster before Monday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. In order to clear room, New England released reserve lineman Donald Thomas.
This is the 16th transaction involving Ventrone, a first-year safety, since the start of the 2011 season. Thin at safety with Patrick Chung injured, the Patriots elevated Ventrone to the active roster before last week's game against the New York Jets (he played two defensive snaps). He was cut soon after, before rejoining the team Wednesday with the practice squad.

Thomas had been active for four games this season.
