ANALYSIS: Second-year player Brandon Deaderick played at left defensive end over veteran Shaun Ellis in the base 4-3 defense. That was a noticeable change as Ellis wasn’t charted on the field for a defensive snap. … Jermaine Cunningham’s four snaps came on the second drive of the game and the only other time he came on the field was on the punt return unit (nice block on Julian Edelman’s 72-yard return for a TD). … Vince Wilfork played every snap in the first half, before getting a slight breather in the second half. This has been a big change this year with Wilfork, as he is staying on the field on third down and in sub packages after being more of a base-defense option in past years.… Andre Carter went wire to wire as his playing time has increased in recent weeks; one gets the sense that he’s in a groove and the coaches want to keep riding the hot hand. … With the Patriots playing more sub defense the last two weeks, speed rusher Mark Anderson is playing more and is showing up at what he does best – getting after the quarterback. … Tracy White was the nickel linebacker, with Gary Guyton starting at linebacker in the base 4-3. … Safety Sterling Moore was replaced at safety by Ross Ventrone on the final two drives. … Julian Edelman was on for 10 first-half snaps in the dime, and then played three in the second half as the Patriots were in more base 4-3 in the final 30 minutes.
