Ochocinco absent from start of practice

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was not spotted at the start of practice on Friday. The reason for his absence was not immediately known.

Friday's injury report, to be released at 4 p.m., will shed more light on Ochocinco's status. His absence from practice puts into question his availability for Sunday's game in Philadelphia.

Ochocinco, who was acquired in a trade on July 29, practiced on Wednesday and Thursday of this week and was not on the team's injury report either day. He played 11 snaps in the team's Monday night win over the Chiefs, and has caught 11 passes in 10 games played this season.

The Patriots re-signed wide receiver Tiquan Underwood on Thursday, giving the team seven wide receivers on their 53-man roster. Four of those receivers -- Wes Welker (knee), Deion Branch (hip), Taylor Price (hamstring), and Matthew Slater (shoulder) -- were listed as limited in Thursday's practice.

Also absent on Friday were linebackers Brandon Spikes (knee) and Dane Fletcher (thumb). Both players have missed the last several weeks of practice and will likely be declared out on Sunday against the Eagles.

Offensive tackle Matt Light (ankle), cornerback Devin McCourty (shoulder), and safety Patrick Chung (foot) all completed a full week of practice on Friday, improving their chances of suiting up on Sunday. McCourty and Chung were both held out of Monday night's win, while Light left the game with his injury.

Players were in light shoulder pads on Friday, marking the second straight week the team has not practiced in full pads.
