Quick hits from locker room

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Quick hits from the media-access period in the locker room today (11:15 a.m.-noon):

1. Players drawing larger media crowds included defensive lineman Vince Wilfork, receiver Deion Branch and safety James Ihedigbo. Veteran running back Kevin Faulk and veteran defensive back Nate Jones spent time at their lockers chatting with reporters. For the second straight day, linebacker Dane Fletcher spent extended time in the room, but he's declining comment until he returns to the field. It looks like that is close to happening.

2. One of the topics of discussion with Wilfork is his high playing time total. He welcomes the work, which has spiked considerably from past seasons.

3. A theme picked up among players is aggressiveness on defense. The sense from here is that they want to get physical with the Redskins and we could see some more pressure than past weeks.

4. Safety Josh Barrett, who is on season-ending injured reserve, was present. He did not require surgery for the calf injury sustained at the end of the Nov. 6 Giants loss, but it was serious enough to knock him out for the year. His focus is on rehab so he can be ready to go for 2012, as he's under contract to the Patriots for next season.

5. Overall, it was a quiet day in the room. Business as usual for the players.
