Agent: Moore back with Patriots

The Patriots plan to re-sign veteran defensive end Eric Moore today, his agent said.

"We've been in discussions throughout the year. Obviously he's happy to get back to work and do what it takes to help the team win," agent Eric Hires said Saturday.

Moore was with the Patriots in training camp, but was part of the final round of roster cuts. He hooked on with the UFL's Virginia franchise and now returns the day after second-year defensive end/linebacker Jermaine Cunningham landed on the injury report (hamstring).

Cunningham is expected to be placed on season-ending injured reserve to make room for the 30-year-old Moore, who flew into town Friday.

Moore initially joined the Patriots Dec. 3, 2010 at a time when the team was ravaged with injuries along the line. He played in four games (3 starts) and finished the season with career highs of 13 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He also started the team's playoff loss to the Jets.

Moore is a six-year veteran who has appeared in games with the Giants (2005), Saints (2006) and Rams (2006-2008).
