Sharing thoughts on some of the big moves around the NFL, as they relate to the Patriots...
After a month-plus of talking about the possibility of the Patriots pursuing free-agent defensive end/outside linebacker Mario Williams in free agency, Williams could indeed be heading to the AFC East.
But it's the Bills who have jumped into the lead position, with ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reporting that Williams is planning to visit Buffalo tonight.
This is obviously an aggressive move by the Bills, and it could be with Tom Brady in mind. Figuring that they have to get through the Brady-led Patriots to win the division, the Bills are targeting the player many feel is the biggest defensive difference-maker on the market.
That Williams has agreed to visit the Bills is an indication that Buffalo is willing to spend big. The Bills have locked up top receiver Stevie Johnson to an extension, and are also hosting free-agent Robert Meachem, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
Of the four teams in the AFC East, it's the Bills jumping to the forefront in the first hour of free agency.
