Tying up one loose end from Matthew Slater's new contract with the Patriots, it is a three-year pact. So the Patriots lock up their special teams captain through 2014.
When free agency started, Slater was viewed from this perspective as one of the team's key re-signings.
Slater gets a $2 million signing bonus in his deal, with base salaries of $700,000 (2012), $1.2 million (2013) and $1.2 million (2014). Slater can earn workout bonuses of $100,000 each year of the deal.
