The Patriots hosted defensive lineman Trevor Laws on a free-agent visit on Saturday, according to a league source.
Laws, 26, was a second-round pick of the Eagles in 2008. The Notre Dame product has played in 56 career NFL games for Philadelphia, making two starts. Last season, Laws had 20 tackles and one sack in 14 games. He recorded a career-high four sacks in 2010, along with five passes defensed and an interception.
At 6-foot-1, 304 pounds, Laws has played defensive tackle in the Eagles' 4-3 defense, and is considered an interior pass rusher. He is the second defensive lineman to make a free-agent visit to Foxboro over the last week, along with former Chargers defensive end Luis Castillo, who also visited on Saturday. In addition, the Patriots added Jonathan Fanene early in free agency to bolster their defensive front line.
