Interviewed on NFL Network's Total Access program on Thursday night, Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker was asked if he plans to attend the Patriots' offseason program, which begins on Monday.
"Still looking to try and decide on that," Welker said. "I’m in no rush and we’ll figure it out. Me and my agent, we’re all on the same page with everything. Just looking to move forward and looking forward to the 2012 season."
Welker received the franchise tender last month, but has still not signed it, and thus is not under contract. He remains on the free-agent market, and would likely want to sign his tender before participating in any voluntary organized team activities. If he remains unsigned, he will also have no obligation to attend the team's mandatory June minicamp, or training camp in July.
On Friday, ESPN.com NFL columnist Ashley Fox highlighted the situation for unsigned franchise-tagged players across the NFL, including Welker.
