Patriots around the Web

A spin around the Web with some Patriots-based links:

1. Wes Welker matches up with "Shutdown Corner" -- Part 1 and Part 2. The franchise-tagged receiver goes one-on-one with Doug Farrar on Yahoo! Sports "Shutdown Corner" blog, an interview tied to Welker's recent work as a pitchman for "The Great American Try-on."

2. Why Patriots will win the AFC. After dissecting the NFL schedule, Jason LaCanfora of NFL Network singles out the Patriots as the team to beat in the AFC.

3. Lombardi on need for more speed. In a video, Tom Curran of Comcast SportsNet interviews NFL Network's Mike Lombardi on the Patriots' draft approach. Lombardi, who often is spot-on when it comes to the Patriots, focuses on the club improving team speed on defense.

4. Wilfork, Kraft offer condolences to fallen chief's family. WCVB-TV in Boston reports on Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork and owner Robert Kraft offering condolences to the family of a New Hampshire police chief killed in the line of duty last week.

5. Pats trail three other AFC teams in prime-time games. In writing on the NFL's schedule release, Don Banks of SI.com notes that three AFC teams have the maximum five prime-time games (Broncos, Steelers, Chargers). New England isn't in the group, which Banks writes is "somewhat surprising given its track record of dominance."
