McShay: Hightower 'can get after the QB'

ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay checks in with his thoughts on Patriots first-round pick Dont'a Hightower (video above):

"I think Dont'a Hightower is a perfect fit form a football player standpoint. The versatility he brings and the toughness, the understanding of playing multiple complex schemes. Where does he fit exactly in this scheme? That remains to be seen, but you know (the Patriots) have a plan for him. They plan a four-man front, a three-man front, they've got some linebackers that they move around. I think Hightower comes in right away and contributes on early downs.

"And he can get after the quarterback. That's one thing we saw this past year. He doesn't have explosive burst off the edge, but has some quickness to power, he used his hands better than expected and I think he showed this past year when he's healthy with the knee injury behind him, and the fact that he was confident in that knee, that he can get off the blocks, that he can go outside the tackle box when playing the run from left to right.

"And he really plays with great aggression. You watch that national championship game and just study what he does in that football game from the first to the fourth quarter and you'll see exactly why Belichick targeted Hightower with this pick."
