Free-agent defensive end Andre Carter, who turned in a 10-sack season in 2011 with the Patriots, was present at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday, Mike Reiss reports.
As noted by Reiss on April 1, "Although he is a free agent, veteran defensive end Andre Carter has still checked in at Gillette Stadium as he is rehabbing from quad surgery. This isn’t unusual, as the surgery was conducted while he was under contract to the Patriots and that connection doesn’t just end because Carter is a free agent."
One could also say Carter's presence at the facility reflects how he's still very much on the team's radar for 2012. Previously, there was a feeling of mutual interest in Carter's return, and the Patriots have not issued his No. 93 to another player.
The Patriots have two open spots on the 90-man roster.
