Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was announced as the fourth-best NFL player for 2012, as voted on by his peers and revealed Wednesday night on NFL Network.
Brady slips three spots from last year’s ranking, when he sat atop the inaugural list.
"He's the ultimate competitor. The guy has accomplished so much, and it's never enough," Patriots receiver Wes Welker said on the program.
Added Patriots receiver Brandon Lloyd: "Tom Brady is the player I love to watch. He's my favorite player in the NFL."
Statistically, Brady had one of his best seasons ever, registering a career-high 5,235 passing yards, 8.57 yards per attempt average, and completing 401 passes.
At 34, Brady continues to perform at an extremely high-level, and has indicated publicly that he wants to play for an extended period of time beyond 2012.
The quarterback was joined by four other Patriots, Vince Wilfork (No. 81), Logan Mankins (No. 64), Wes Welker (No. 23) and Rob Gronkowski (No. 21) on the list.
